It suddenly seems like DJI doesn’t go three months without announcing a new imaging product/system. A couple months ago, it was the Mavic 3 Classic, then the Mini 3, then the extension system for their cinema camera; the DJI Ronin 4D and now, here we are with the all old but new Mavic 3 Pro, an improvement to the already amazing Mavic 3 (lest we forget, last week, they debuted the new DJI Inspire 3 quadcopter and that drone is just a beast).
This is not a review (quite obviously as I haven’t used the drone myself), this simply is a run down of all the improvements that the new Mavic 3 Pro (and Pro Cine) features;
- The Lens Set-up that consists of the standard 24mm lens with a Micro Four Thirds sensor and variable aperture, a 70mm lens with an f/2.8 aperture and a 166mm with an f/3.4 aperture
- Tri-Camera Apple Pro Res Raw support
- Omni Obstacle Avoidance System
- New Improved Transmission Range of up to 15km
- Longer Battery life with 43 minutes of flight time (best case scenario)
- 1TB SSD storage (exclusive to the Mavic 3 Pro Cine)
DJI is the Industry leader in Aerial Photography and they’ve done it again with the Mavic 3 Pro. Including 3 different focal lengths allows for varied perspectives and that is always a welcomed development when it comes to the world of photography (not to mention Aerial photography). The change in perspective opens up the mind to new creative possibilities (read my article on Finding Excitement in Aerial Photography for more) and the fact that you can change those perspectives now in aerial photography means you can simulate a big budget look on a prosumer product.
The DJI Mavic 3 Pro price starts at $2,199 and based on customization options or whether you want the Cine version goes up to $4,799 for the maxed out spec sheet.
