It seems like everywhere you turn, there’s a new DJI product and since its Techtember (Tech-September, get it?), DJI has announced their newest addition to the Mini line up for drones; the new DJI Mini 4 Pro.
The Mini 4 Pro comes over one year after the announcement of the Mini 3 Pro (but with the host of announcements from DJI its doesn’t seem nearly far enough) and it is an slight upgrade from the Mini 3 Pro. The Mini 4 Pro now features a 360 degree obstacle avoidance system, a feature that was exclusively reserved for the Mavic and Ronin line of drones however having innovation trickle down to the beginner line of drones does ensure there are fewer crashes and the experiences can be carried on when creators eventually upgrade their drone systems.
The Mini 4 Pro can shoot 4K footage at up to 100fps and is capable of shooting HDR video at 4K/60fps, an upgrade from the Mini 3’s 4K/30fps in HDR so you can get that sweet-sweet slow-mo without compromising on detail. The Mini 4 maintains the sub 250 gram weights so you still don’t have to register but it also comes with a heavy duty battery that gives you a longer flight time but puts you over 250 grams in weight so depending on what you want, you’d have to decide whether you want to register or not (Just register and get it over with).
The Mini 4 Pro also does 1080p/200fps so if you’re not so particular about 4k, you can get that super slow-mo for cinematic videos and is equipped with Ocusync 4 for a better drone to controller connection however personally, I think if you already own the Mini 3 Pro, there’s no point in upgrading because the major updates is the obstacle avoidance system (which the Mini 3 has front and back) and increased shooting frame rate. The battery life and smart features are pretty much the same.
