I found photography in 2016 and it was like I had found some form of purpose in life and since then all my thoughts and actions has been geared towards getting better.
At first it was beautiful, I had a compact Canon PowerShot and I’d literally take pictures of anything and everything; Clouds, Grass, Buildings, Animals, Humans… Whatever caught my eyes had to saved on that tiny camera but after awhile It moved pass the need to capture images for the love of it, it became more about Money and Insta-likes and slowly, I lost focus of why I had started photography in the first place; Love.
Before I rant on, I’d love to clear up the air and say “I want to make money from my photography, build a career and pay the bills from creating images for people” but I don’t want my longing for the money to interfere with my “photographic process”.
It’s been 2 Years and there’s a lot to learn but I’m deciding to go back to the basics; Relearn the Exposure triangle, Posing, Light setup and shooting with off camera flash. At the start of this great journey, nothing mattered but achieving beautiful simple images and I’d love to return to a time when my quest for the hundredth like on Instagram didn’t bug me.
