Simone Aimalohi Akharume (@lohiakharume) is a self- trained photographer, Visual storyteller, & creative director, She enjoys telling stories with images. Simone started taking pictures at 12, and this helped her open up a significant part of herself.
She wants to tell her own stories, stories about life experiences that matter, to show progression in images & eventually direct her own shoots. She uses Earth-tones and the fading of colour mostly in her images.
In 2018 Simone was nominated for teens choice best female photographer by the Nigerian Teens Award.
Eventually, she wants to host solo exhibitions around the world, using alternate mediums of expression. She also intends on starting up a multi-purpose creative studio that caters to young creatives that need materials and a safe space to work.
She states that being a young Nigerian woman in this field has been the most challenging experience ever, being involved in the Black women photographers community has helped a lot, She has gotten connections to important organizations and communities that would help in her journey.
Also, Simone says that she has the opportunity to bring some of her stories to life, these projects have helped establish herself and discover her art.
