BOP PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE WEEK: FUNMI JAMES

Funmi James also known as m.o.e.studios  is a portrait and wedding photographer that studied Agric Economics at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. Funmi learnt about photography in 2016 after which attended a 2-week workshop organized by Red media  and that was the beginning of photography for her.  After the training, James got a camera and took the craft as a hobby until she got better at it. James started photography officially in 2018 and it has been an an amazing journey.

James thinks photography is not just about capturing reality but capturing our own perception or interpretation of everything around us. When taking a picture, she looks out for her subject’s emotions and perceptions of themselves at that very moment they are in front of the lens.  She believes that picture taken of someone or anyone is permanent and you’ve captured the truth of them in that moment. She is also driven by her curiosity, her imagination, creativity and the need to be different.
