I’m always excited whenever Canon comes up with great news because they have been one of my favorite camera brands, and guess what? They just won an award for “WORLD’S MOST ETHICAL COMPANY” for the 5th consecutive year in a row.
Now let me go straight to the point; Canon’s RF lenses are doing very well in the market and it doesn’t look like they’ll be backing off in its production. Seeing as requests have increased, they, in turn, are responding with more lenses.
Recently, Canon stated its plan to elongate the production of the RF lenses to about 32 new more lenses by 2026 which might see them rebranding and redesigning the older lenses. According to the statement of their annual business outlook that was recently published, we are to expect about 8 lenses per year.
Funny how Canon lenses are intertwined, a lens of RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM is nearly the same as the RF 800mm f/5.6 L IS USM except for the difference in length and f-stops which are very expensive to purchase. Everyone is looking forward to more affordable lenses, especially with the speculated APS-C body and the company’s continuing commitment to affordable full frame bodies, along with some more specialized designs, such as tilt-shift models and an expanded macro lineup.
In the business outlook they also mentioned their interest in becoming the number one mirrorless camera producer in the global market. Basically we’re to expect more from Canon this year.
