Since the launch of the RF mount in 2018, Canon has been all in when it comes to premiering lenses for this mount and this year saw the RF 85mm f/1.2, RF 600mm, and 800mm f/11 lenses come into play alongside the EOS R5 and R6 bodies and now, word is that Canon is gearing up to add two additional zooms to the lot in the coming year.
According to Canon Rumors, Canon will most likely debut an RF version of the widely popular EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 zoom lens (a lens that was rumored to already be in the works sometime this year) alongside the RF 300mm f/2.8. It is likely that both lenses will drop just before the summer Olympics that was postponed to next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While there’s no guarantee that the lenses stated above will be the ones the company will premiere, Canon has covered all the bases from 200mm below, having a solid trinity of f/2.8 lenses (14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm), alongside a fleet of fast and very sharp primes. Canon had in a statement some time last year, said that it would move its focus from EF lenses to RF lenses as the company looked forward to solidifying its stance in the mirrorless market.
