Canon has announced the EOS Rebel T7, an entry-level DSLR that replaces the T6 with a slightly improved sensor.

Image resolution has jumped from 18MP in the T6 to 24.1 megapixels with the APS-C crop CMOS sensor in the T7. And the T7’s sensor doesn’t feature Dual Pixel technology — the DSLR still uses the same ol’ 9-point phase-detection system found in the T6.

The camera can capture these 24MP photos with an ISO range of 100–6400 (expandable to 12800) and at a continuous shooting speed of 3 frames per second.

Other features in the Rebel T7 include a 3-inch LCD screen with 920K dots, an optical viewfinder with 95% coverage, a built-in flash, Wi-Fi/NFC wireless connectivity, 1080p video recording, and Scene Intelligent Auto Mode.

Here are a few official sample photos captured with the T7:

The Rebel T7 will be available in April bundled with the EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS II with a price tag of $550 (the same as what the T6 is currently selling for).
