Last week, Canon finally announced the new M50 Mark II, successor to the widely successfully M50 that was a vloggers go to and asides a few updates around, it seems Canon really did nothing but ship out the same camera but with a second generation stamp.
The M50 Mark II still features a 24.1 MegaPixel APS-C sensor like its predecessor that is capable of shooting 4K video at 24/fps. The M50 Mark II does feature a new and improved auto focus system that comes complete with face and eye detect for photo and video with a feature that allows for direct live streaming to YouTube from the camera. Below are the new features of the M50 Mark II;
- Improved autofocus including eye autofocus in video
- Vertical video shooting support
- LCD adds tap video record button and movie self-timer for better vlogging experience
- High-quality webcam capability, when used with compatible services, with the free EOS Webcam Utility software or Clean HDMI output
- Wireless YouTube Live streaming capability (live stream feature is only supported with YouTube)
- The ability to tap the screen to autofocus on your subject while looking through the EVF (for help controlling the main focus of the image
The camera is capable of shooting 10 frames continuous in burst mode and supports one SD card. Physically, it still doesn’t differ from the original M50;
The M50 will arrive in stores/start shipping in late November for $599.99 for the body only, $699.99 for the camera body plus EF-M 15-45mm lens kit, and $929.99 for the camera body plus EF-M 15-45mm and EF-M55-200mm double zoom lens kit.
