When the Canon C70 came out in late 2020, it was widely praised for its new Dual Gain Sensor technology that allows for great dynamic range and low noise performance and now, Daniel Ehinem, a Nigerian Director, Cinematographer, Sound Editor, and Colourist has reviewed the camera with the hope of narrowing down the decision of whether this Cinematic beast is for you or not.
The C70 comes in at a price of $5,500 ($500 cheaper than the Zeiss ZX1), it features a super 35mm sensor with Dual ISO Gain Sensor technology, a Native RF mount with an option to adapt a Canon built speed booster to it to give you that full-frame look and an extra stop of light. (You can read all about the C70 here in our earlier post) In the video, Daniel talks about the implications of the new sensor, drops sample footage, talks about the advantage of the speed booster (It adds one extra stop of light), and the versatility range at which you can stretch the files gotten from the camera.
So if you’re looking into starting some form of professional film making this year, take a look at the video below and decide if the Canon C70 is for you.
