I hope I don’t make you feel bad especially if you already have a TELECONVERTER attached to your camera lens. Nobody told you the effect of using a converter because you thought it was the right thing to get to better your photography. A teleconverter is created to give additional focal length to your already existing lens. For easier understanding a teleconverter is the second lens that is attached to an already existing lens of a camera providing the camera a higher focal length of a telephoto lens.
This lens is mounted between a camera and a photographic lens which enlarges the central part of an image obtained by the lens making it twice (2x) the original focal length.
Here are some of the reasons why using a teleconverter lens is just not the best idea:
- Low light: This is one of the disadvantages of using a teleconverter, cause in the process your images become noisy by reducing the amount of light the lens captures invariably preventing you from using the aperture provided by the lens itself.
- Affects the optical quality: Using a teleconverter will expose you to the loss of image quality due to the fact that the central part of the image have been magnified by the lens coupled with the aberration and lens defect. It surfers your images from being sharp even at the closest. It is better to shoot with a lens of 800mm long than using a 400mm with a 2x teleconverter.
- Loses Autofocus: Applying an extender into your camera increases your aperture but causing greater and unpleasing changes to your images.
- Deny you wider aperture: If you put a 2x extender on a 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 lens, you’d now have a 200-800mm f/9-11 lens. Camera shake will be more of concern to you because you’re subjected to a longer focal length.
So many photographers have made this mistake but I hope that no one falls victim after reading this because it can really make your images look wacky-out of focus. See more reasons why teleconverters are terrible for your photography work are discussed be in the video below by http://Jaredpolin.com
