Fujifilm’s second X-Summit of 2023 took place on Tuesday, 12 September. The event held in Stockholm, Sweden, came with a bunch of exciting announcements by the camera brand. These announcements consist of five new GF lenses, and the new flagship GFX100 II Medium Format Camera.
The GFX 100 II is a replacement for the original GFX 100. It packs a high-speed 102-megapixel CMOS sensor, doubled with a new custom version of the company’s latest X-Processor. Fujifilm has also added an extra film simulation: the Fujifilm Reala Ace film. It provides a lower saturation than standard Provia but still offers a neutral tone.
The GFX 100 II is capable of 4K60p 4:2:2 10-bit video internally with no crop, as well as 8K24p with a 1.42x crop, or 8K30p with a 1.51x crop, and Full HD up to 120p. With an improved autofocus for image makers to take advantage of the latest subject recognition and tracking algorithms from Fujifilm, including humans, animals, vehicles, and insects.
The five new lenses announced by Fuji are: The Motorized GF standard zoom – in development for videomaking; Fujinon GF 55mm F1.7 R WR fast standard prime; Fujinon GF 500mm f/5.6 – super telephoto, launching in 2024; Fujinon GF 110mm F5.6 T/S Macro tilt-shift lens; Fujinon GF 30mm F5.6 T/S tilt-shift lens.
