Launched a little over two years ago, the Kuta Art Foundation, a pro-youth art community in Ogun State, Nigeria has been raising awareness for the need to build an art centre that can unite the art community in their region, provide socio-economic opportunities and reduce social vices. Now, they are launching the #CREARTSPACE Campaign (Create an Art Space) to further their objectives and draw more voices to their cause.
In a video by Benita Nnenna Nnachortam (former Official Photographer to the Ogun State Governor and host of the SOVA Podcast), she gives the backstory of the Kuta movement and why setting up the art centre will unite the creatives of the region whilst paving a pathway for others to follow beyond the borders of the state and even the country.
In her words; “… there’s no better way to secure the future than by strategically setting up facilities and networks of creative leaders that will curb the social vices that already threatens the future we think we are building today”
