Daniel Ebenuwa popularly known as DNL LENS is a portrait and fashion photographer based in Nigeria. He is also a graduate of Computer Science from Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta. He strongly believes that if you keep shooting, keep working, and stay humble, it would definitely pay off as a photographer.
  • KINDLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF

I’m Daniel Ebenuwa,  a photographer based in Lagos Nigeria who graduated from the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (Computer Science)

  • WHAT WAS GROWING UP LIKE FOR YOU?

Growing up was normal basically, I’m the second of 4 children (first boy). I grew up in Lagos (Alimosho local government) never thought I would go into photography because I always wanted to study computer science or the way I say it then (I wanted to be a scientist)

  • WHAT’S YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND?

I Went to FCPA for my primary and secondary days and the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta for my university

  • WHAT GENRE OF PHOTOGRAPHY ARE YOU INTO?

Portrait and Fashion Photography

  • WHERE/ WHO DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM? Several photographers (Dani diamond, image faculty, Anita Sadowska, David Dubinsky, etc.)

  • HOW DO YOU EDUCATE YOURSELF TO TAKE BETTER PICTURES?

YouTube Basically, but I didn’t start from YouTube. I downloaded taught photography courses from other photographers at my early stage and I still go back to watch them to this day. I always still find something new to learn)

  • WHOSE WORK HAS INFLUENCED YOU MOST?

In Nigerian: Image faculty, Bedge Pictures, Tosin Juniad, and Prince Meyson. For the rest of the World: Anita Sadowska, Dani Diamond, David Dubinsky, Josh Sisly, and Joey Dutch.

  • AMONG YOUR WORKS, WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVORITE? WHY?

I love this image because it brought me out to the fashion market.

This image opened my creative side and brought out the creative potential in me.

Well, I love this because it shows how clean and beautiful an image can be.

I definitely have to put at least one male shoot and this is my favorite.

  • SO FAR WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR HIGHEST POINT AS A PHOTOGRAPHER AND HOW IS THE BUSINESS OF PHOTOGRAPHY LIKE?

I really can’t pick one point as my highest cos I’ve had highs and lows, but I think right now I like where I am and I’m working to be greater.

  • AS A PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER AMONGST OTHERS, WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO YOUNGER PHOTOGRAPHERS WHO ARE CONSIDERING A CAREER IN PORTRAIT AND FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY?

My advice would be: keep shooting, keep working and stay humble, it would definitely pay off.

  • WHERE DO YOU SEE PHOTOGRAPHY AND THE IMAGING INDUSTRY IN THE COMING YEARS? iPhone cameras are coming up fast lol! But photography would definitely come out on top.

  • ANY LAST WORDS

Nahhhhh I think I’m done here lol!
