With all the fuss and confusion over the overheating issue on the Canon R5 and R6, according to word from the photography Twitter account Nokishita, Canon is gearing up to release a firmware update for their recently released EOS R5 as well as a new 70-200mm f/4 lens that most probably will be a tad less expensive than its f/2.8 counterpart.
Last week, Canon was hit by ransomware and lost over 10 terabytes of user data as well as images that its user had backed up on its cloud storage platform. But news of this firmware alongside the lens might put a smile on some users’ faces as well as give the company some good press.
According to Petapixel, the firmware update will fix a couple of bugs on the EOS R5 while adding some new features like:
- The addition of Cinema RAW light option to 8K recording
- The addition of CLog 3
- Increased record time limits
The announcement and release of both items are yet unknown but usually, when the information gets out like this, it simply means that it’s only a couple of weeks before their official announcement follows.
