Soon after launching the long-awaited a7S III, Sony announced that it was going to be debuting a compact line up of full frame cameras that the company is aiming at adventure/travel photographers and YouTube vloggers, and rumours have surfaced online that the new line up will be called the a7C (Alpha 7 Compact?).
While images of the camera and sensor specs haven’t surfaced yet, from the looks of things, the camera will be really compact for a full-frame camera, almost likened to the Sigma fp (and that’s saying something as the regular Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras are already small compared to other mirrorless cameras/DSLRs).
Below are some of the details that have surfaced:
- Similar specs to the A7 III
- Has the same flip-out LCD as the A7S III
- Body size of the A6600
- It will have a Popup EVF
- Uses an NP-FZ100 battery
- Type-C USB
- Single SD card slot
- Both microphone and headphone sockets
- 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi and Bluetooth
The camera is said to be priced just a little over $2000 and will be officially announced in mid-September alongside a new line of lenses, built especially for the camera.
