Alongside the launch of the brand new Z5, Nikon also launched a new lens; the Nikkor Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 is a compact zoom lens made for full-frame mirrorless cameras and while it’s essentially a kit lens for the Z5, it is available independently for $396.
The Nikkor Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 is a slim and compact auto focus lens with a stepping motor, which Nikon says will provide quick, quiet, and precise autofocus, for both photos and video. The lens features a programmable control ring that is set to adjust manual focus on default but can used it to control aperture or exposure compensation.
The lens features a Super Integrated Coating on its elements, which should suppress flare and ghosting. Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates.
The new lens is currently available for preorder and will start shipping sometime in August.
