The Next Chapter is here. Nikon has finally unveiled the new, upgraded Z6 and Z7 Mark II Mirrorless camera bodies and its everything that Nikon users were clamoring for when the first bodies arrived.
The physical appearance of both cameras haven’t changed from their predecessors and both still use the same 24.5MP [Z6/Z6 II] and 45.7MP [Z7/Z7 II] BSI CMOS image sensors, with vari angle screens but when you delve deeper into both cameras, you begin the see the upgrades that Nikon installed in them.
Both cameras have been updated with the new Dual EXPEED 6 image processors, which enable the Z7 II to capture 4K/60p video ( Nikon has promised to include this feature on the Z6 II via firmware update in February 2021), increased the continuous shooting speed to 14fps (Z6 II) and 10fps (Z7 II). Nikon also states that both cameras will have an incredibly better autofocus performance than their predecessors, with eye-detect and animal-detect availability, alongside better low-light autofocus. Both cameras now feature one XQD/CFexpress card slot and one UHS-II SD card slot so that critical images can be recorded on both cards simultaneously to avoid loss of data.
Nikon also unveil a new battery grip system; the MBN-11, features an additional control wheel and shutter button, and takes two of the new-and-improved EN-EL16c batteries, while providing the option to charge said batteries over USB-C.
