The Kano Durbar is a colorful and historic festival held annually in Kano, Nigeria. Its essence is to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Kano Emirate. The Durbar features a procession of horsemen, elaborately dressed dignitaries, and colorful displays of horsemanship. It is a popular tourist destination and a significant cultural event in Nigeria. PROFILES
- Adeniyi Olagunju is an artist and filmmaker who holds a National Diploma in General Art from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) degree from St Anne’s College , the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, with a concentration in Studio Art. He’s a practicing studio artist with exhibitions across three continents. His sculpture is represented in the permanent collection of the House of European History, Brussels and Belgium and also doubles as the founder of Nigeria Cultural Journey.
- Kola Oshalusi is a creative photographer with an eye for details and documenting moments. He is currently the creative director at Insigna Media, a leading photography and content creation company positioned to building Africa’s largest content creation company. A passionate advocate of knowledge sharing and transfer, culture preservation, sustainability and conservation.
- Sani Maikatanga has been a photographer since 1992 and became a photojournalist in 2000 and has worked with different media houses like FIM magazine, Leadership, Daily Trust newspaper, AP and Reuter news agency as a freelancer documenting culture and traditions and today’s life in the Northern part of Nigeria.
- Mohammed Alamin is a software engineer turned photographer and cinematographer. He is an accomplished documentary and landscape photographer with a passion for exploring the world and capturing beauty through the lens of a camera. With over ten years of experience, he has documented diverse cultures in remote and stunning corners of the world.
