As promised at the release of the Meyer Optik Görlitz Trioplan 50mm f/2.8 II, the new owners of OPC Optics, makers of the Meyer Optik Görlitz brand have announced the rebirth of the Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II.
The arrival of the new Prioplan 75 finalizes the trinity of old sought after vintage lenses from Meyer Optik Görlitz and according to the company’s Managing Director Timo Heinze; “The Primoplan 75 has always been one of the most sought-after, as it is amongst the rarest lenses from Meyer Optik Görlitz. After it was discontinued in the middle/end of the 1950s, probably for political reasons and/or in favour of a market companion from Jena, Primoplan lenses that can be found today are traded at horrendous prices. With our new edition, we now offer the option to get a new, technically perfect, Primoplan 75 at a reasonable pricing.”
Primoplan lenses are distinctive for their swirly and bubble-like bokeh, sharpness, and speed.
Here are some official sample photos captured with the lens:
The lens features an all-metal build and is assembled by hand and individually calibrated and tested. It also features a silent stepless aperture ring and a filter diameter of 52mm.
The lens is currently available and will start shipping sometime this month. Available mount options include Canon EF, Nikon F, Fuji X, Leica M, M42, MFT, Pentax K, and Sony E mounts. It can be ordered now from the Meyer Optik Gorlitz website for $1165.
