Nigeria turned 60 yesterday and I’m caught between celebration and indifference. On one hand, Yay, It’s been 60 years since we took the country by the reins and started leading her in the direction that we deemed fit for ourselves but on the other hand, that direction isn’t exactly one that’s been at all fulfilling. Anyways, I’d rather not get lost in the tragedy that is the current Nigerian situation. A lot of people celebrated Independence Day with great images and tales but below are two images that struck me because they tell both sides of the Nigerian story… One of beauty and the other of ‘sifia’ (severe) pain.
- Otome Onoge
- Bern-Paul Ushie
The country has great potential and with a bit of dedication and hard work, we can hit heights that are only imagined. Happy 60th to Nigeria. We love you here at BOPNetworks.
