Users of the Nikon Mirrorless Z system were gifted yesterday with a lens roadmap containing images of lenses that are already on shelves for the mirrorless Z mount system as well as silhouettes of upcoming lenses with their focal lengths but the company withheld their aperture values.
The Z mount system is currently a little of three years old and has over fifteen lenses available to photographers and Nikon’s hope is that the lens roadmap acts as a kind of guide as to what the company is planning to deliver in the next 2-3 years. Some of the lenses teased on the roadmap include:
- Nikkor Z 28mm
- Nikkor Z 40mm
- Nikkor Z 24-105mm S-line
- Nikkor Z 85mm S-line
- Nikkor Z Micro 50mm (which I’m presuming will be Nikon’s nifty fifty equivalent)
- Nikkor Z Micro 105mm S-line
- Nikkor Z 100-400mm
- Nikkor Z 200-600mm
- Nikkor Z 400mm
- Nikkor Z 600mm
Though the release dates aren’t offered, it’s safe to say most of these lenses will hit shelves starting from next year, through to 2023.
The Nikon z=Z mount was introduced in 2018 with the Z6 and Z7 mirrorless full frames. Since then, there’ve been 4 other additions to the line up with the most recent being the new Z6 II and Z7 II that was announced in October. You read more about Nikon’s current mirrorless lens roadmap here.
