- KINDLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF?
I am Adeoba Ademola, a graduate of Physics with electronics graduate from Crawford University. I’m also the creative director of Afrovisualz
- WHAT WAS GROWING UP LIKE FOR YOU?
I grew up in a family of 2, I am the first child and only son, I have a younger sister. Growing up wasn’t a fairytale one, my parents did their best to give us the best every child deserves.
- WHAT’S YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND?
I’ve a B.Sc. in Physics with Electronics from Crawford University
- WHAT GENRE OF PHOTOGRAPHY ARE YOU INTO?
I do basically different genres of photography, but major basically on Events and portraits
- HOW WILL YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
I try as much as possible to make a story out of every shot. I just want to share something different from the norm.
- WHAT DOES PHOTOGRAPHY MEAN TO YOU?
Photography is therapy for me, it helps me cleanse negative energy. No matter how sad or heartbroken I might be, once it’s time to shoot, Oh please! Afro channels the energy to create fire contents.
- HOW DID YOU GET INTO PHOTOGRAPHY?
The flare has been since childhood, I would always take anybody’s phone as long as it had a camera, and take pictures of everything and anything. I was just always interested in capturing moments so beautifully that when you go back to it back then you could say “Demola snapped this picture”. Should I say I’ve always known how to take good pictures from way back, I just had to improve with time. Learn to follow the rules and break them creatively.
- WHERE/WHO DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?
My inspiration comes from different sources, always depending on what type of shoot I want to curate. I always never want to be limited tho, so I consume different concepts of photography, and well whatever you consume is what you push out, probably refined. So yeah that’s how it works for me. For weddings most inspo comes from Bedge Pictures, for portrait Illusionz and for creative shoots Amazing Klef.
- WHAT MAKES A GOOD PICTURE STAND OUT FROM THE AVERAGE?
Well good pictures is relative, it’s the idea behind the picture, the interpretation the viewer is getting, the color grade, the tone, the composition and many more. It could be one thing for me and it could be a lot more for others.
- WHOSE WORK HAS INFULENCED YOU MOST?
I really don’t have that one person, honestly. I have a whole lot of people. I basically just do my thing with no pressure.
- WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER TO YOU?
Reward? Can’t list it all. I think the most important thing is being able to help myself become a better person, meet new people, learn to network, explore creativity, and so much more.
- AS A PHOTOGRAPHER WHAT ARE YOUR ADVICE TO YOUNGER PHOTOGRAPHERS CONSIDERING A CAREER IN PORTRAIT OR ANY GENRE OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Basically the part they never tell you is that starting up is very stressful, it will drain you, people will owe you, your camera can choose to fail you, But be super strong and committed, grow the willpower to never give up. Then, you can insert every other cliché thing you have always heard. Know how to edit, shoot everyday, learn frequency separation (I just started doing it this month), and learn the business part of the work. Don’t be scared to ask for your balance, Never lie. It’s all fun honestly.
- WHERE DO YOU SEE PHOTOGRAPHY AND THE IMAGING INDUSTRY IN THE COMING YEARS?
The evolution is getting crazy by the day, the technology keeps getting improved to solve the problems of creative minds, therefore giving space for crazy photography concepts with less stress. Photography will speak to your soul.
