Getting into the mirrorless game seems to be getting easier by the day as a new report on Canon Rumors states that a “very budget-friendly” Canon EOS R full-frame camera is currently in the works and expected to debut in 2021.
The report states that Canon is currently working on a full-frame camera that will be priced below $1,000 and will come with the titular RF mount. Currently, the cheapest Mirrorless Full Frame in Canon’s line up is the EOS RP, which was released in January of 2019 and costs $1,300 (On some sites, You can get it for as low as $1,100 or even $1,000)
It is unsure if introducing a budget-friendly mirrorless full-frame is the new “strategy” for drawing in new shooters or introducing DSLR shooters to the mirrorless universe because last month, Nikon introduced their Z5 which costs only $1,400 and Sony is reportedly working on a budget-friendly, compact full-frame camera too (Allegedly called the Sony a7C).
