Infinix Mobile just launched their flagship device of 2021 and taking a cue from Apple, the company is skipping the number nine and calling the new phone the “Zero X”. Like the company has always done, they aren’t pulling any stops to ensure that this device looks and feels like a premium smartphone.
The phone features a 6.67 Amoled Full HD display with a glass finish on the back and metallic sides (somewhat identical to the iPhone 12 and 13) with a screen refresh rate of 120Hz. The Zero X Pro spots a Helio G95 processor that is backed by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM with the option to expand with a micro SD Card. The phone also has a battery capacity of 4,500mAh and fast charging capabilities to suit the not-so-reliable power situation in the country but what stands out is the camera layout on this particular Zero.
Instead of opting for a quad-camera set up like usual (and filling it with cameras that don’t offer usable images), Infinix has gone with a triple camera set up with the primary camera featuring a 108-megapixel sensor and an aperture of f/1.7 which means you get the best possible scenario both indoors and outside. The other cameras are 8 megapixels respectively and those still produce quite remarkable images. The cameras produce videos at 4K 60fps (which is a first for the brand) so for those looking to vlog with this device, you are sure your footage will be crystal clear with enough room for cropping and colour grading without suffering any loss in quality. The phone also features a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
My Opinion: This is a new design from Infinix and I’m loving it. The Zero X is very much like the original Zero except for the curved edges and a silkier finish, befitting of a flagship smartphone. The design is much welcomed and the tile-like glass finish has to be Infinix’s best design yet. The 108-megapixel main camera is much like what Xiaomi did with their Note 10 series of smartphones and while most people are fans of ‘high-end pixel’ sensors, once you throw them in low light situations, the resulting images are usually just God awful, however, Infinix is compensating for this with a super wide aperture but I’d have to get my hands on one to know for sure if its enough. As long as you have sufficient lighting, the Zero X and X Pro are smartphones that I’d recommend without hesitation.
