Samyang has announced the new AF 85mm f/1.4 FE prime lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras. It’s a lens with “stunning resolution and bokeh” and “excellent AF performance,” the South Korean company says.
Since introducing its first autofocus lens in 2016, Samyang is now unveiling its 6th autofocus lens designed for Sony full-frame E-mount cameras.
“As photography enthusiasts are looking for more than optical performances, the demand for lenses capable of various expressions is growing,” Samyang says. “AF 85mm F1.4 FE is based on Samyang’s 40 years of optical technology, it captures the subject in a delicate and precise manner in even open aperture setting.
“Also, Samyang’s special lens polishing technology enhance the artistry of the photographers with soft bokeh images.”
The AF 85mm f/1.4 FE features 11 elements in 8 groups, including an ED glass lens that compensates for color fringing and chromatic aberration. Weather sealing on the lens helps keep dust and water out.
Inside the lens is a 9-bladed aperture that produces beautiful bokeh when shooting with a shallow depth of field.
Other features and specs include a UMC coating, a minimum focusing distance of 2.95 feet (0.9m), a 77mm filter size, a length of 3.9in (99.5mm), and a weight of 1.25 pounds (568g).
The lens’ size and weight make it a leading lens of its class when it comes to portability.
