It is quite difficult to be stable when using your camera either while shooting videos or photographing a subject. Most times we are taking some shots perfectly well but in the process, we begin to feel uncomfortable with our body position i.e the way we squat, bend, tilt, our body angles most times affect our shots by the bluryness of the subject, wrong framing, unstable composition, etc.
I went out on a photo walk this morning and I was about to take a shot in an uncomfortable position which resulted in a disastrous shot. Imagine if I had any of the stabilizers attached to the camera in my hand then it is certain to have a great shot without impunity.
A camera stabilizer is a mountable rig that works to avoid any unwanted movement and maintain smooth footage during operation. Stabilizers will often need to be properly balanced and can incorporate gimbals to keep footage from shaking, some of which are electronically powered by brushless motors for precise adjustments. There are various types of camera stabilizers that work perfectly well to suit your project.
TYPES OF CAMERA STABILIZER
- Handheld Stabilizers: Avoids use of a vest or 3-axis gimbal. It is often a less expensive option that relies heavily on smooth operation. This stabilizer allows you to move your hand freely when shooting although this stabilizer works best with lighter cameras.
- 3-Axis Gimbal: Incorporates a set of rotating gimbals. Often electronic and may rely heavily on battery and charge time. This is a three-axis gimbal that requires electronic input to function well for its usage. Using this gimbal allows you to control and rotate in axis the movement of your camera at any point in time.
- Vest Stabilizer System: Combines a vest attachment, springs, iso-elastic arms, multi-axis gimbal, and weighted sled.
