While most people are happy for the advent of the Canon EOS R5 and R6 and the fact that Canon is now stepping up its game in dominating the mirrorless market, there are loyal DSLR fans who have been waiting for the news of when the next 5D would drop and while rumors emerged last year that the 5D Mark V was in the works, new information has come to put a halt to that dream.
According to Canon Rumors, information from a reliable insider at Canon has confirmed that there will be no more cameras in the 5D line up making the current 5D Mark IV, the last of its line. Earlier this year, Canon had stated that it will cease developments of EF lenses to focus on RF ones that’ll complement their line of mirrorless cameras and now, it seems they are starting to cease development on the DSLR side of things too.
While there may be another DSLR or two or more the future, it seems it is time to wave goodbye to the trusty 5D line of cameras that revolutionized the industry, bought us compact HD video and top tier image quality… all in an ideal body.
