Sony has enlarged A7C ecosystem with the announcement of two new cameras, the A7C II & the A7C R.
We begin with the A7C II:
Sony A7C II
A 33-megapixel powerhouse, the A7C II is a direct successor to the original A7C. It possesses the latest Sony tech and has also been advanced with an AI processor, making it up to eight times faster at image processing than the A7C and aid the camera to shoot up to 10fps with continuous autofocus and autoexposure.
The A7C II has up to 7-stop in body image stabilization for images and videos. It also carries Sony’s Active Stabilization for video recording. We have Sony’s current ISO standard of 100-51,200 (expandable to 102,400).
The camera carries 759 phase-detection points, covering 94% of the sensor and has Sony’s lates much-improved touchscreen interface with quick menus. The A7C II has just the one SD UHS-II card, positioned on the side though, alongside HDMI, headphone, microphone, and USB-C ports.
Sony A7C R
The A7C IIR is the same body as the A7C II, except Sony empowered it with a 60megapixel sensor, making it one of the highest-resolution cameras. It also comes with an AI processor, like the A7C II.
On the A7C IIR, the ISO is expandable to 64,000, with shutter speed is also slightly slower at just 8fps with continuous autofocus and autoexposure. The sensor has a reduced 693 AF points that cover just 79% of the sensor.
For videos, the A7C IIR is also capable of 4K60p, but this time with a 1.2x crop, 4k30p and below however can use the full width of the sensor. Most of the specs for the A7C R pursue that of the lower resolution A7C II, with just a handful notable exceptions due to the increased megapixel sensor.
Both cameras are also available in all black, or black and silver finish. just like the A7C. They will be available around mid-September, but preorders have begun.
The A7C II will cost $2,299 / £2,100 / AU$3,499 for the body only, or $2,499 / £2,350 in a kit with the Sony FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 lens.
The A7C R however, will cost a much steeper $2,999 / £3,200 / AU$4,999 for the body alone.
The A7C is will still be on the market for now, but may go for discounted prices since retailers are optimizing space for the newer models.
