Sony has officially announced the launch date of the long-awaited Sony a7S III. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 28th, and users of the current a7S II will finally get the upgrade they’ve all clamored for.
While Sony hasn’t confirmed anything about the camera outside the fact that it will get a whole new design from bottom up including the sensor, Sony Alpha Rumors has gathered quite a bit about the upcoming camera so far and again since all of these haven’t been confirmed, don’t take any of these to heart if it doesn’t pan out as true after the launch:
- Redesigned 12MP image sensor with “fast readout” (likely a stacked CMOS sensor)
- 16 bit RAW output
- 15 stops of dynamic range (which should be possible with 16-bit RAW).
- 1080/240p slow motion
- 10-bit 4:2:2 4K/120 fps video, and 4K/120 fps RAW video over HDMI
- 600Mpbs bitrate
- Base ISO of 160 for S-LOG3, without Dual ISO
- No record time limits
- Fully-articulating screen
- UHS-II SD card slots
Just like the Canon R5, the closer we draw to the launch date, the more accurate information we’ll get regarding specs and looks.
