Firmware update V2.0 has been released for Sony PXW-FX9 Cinema cameras. Initially slated to be released in October this year the update has come a month earlier. The update brings a lot of new functions to the Sony FX9, one of which is the A FFcrop 5K option which can be accessible in the Imager Scan Mode menu making it possible for oversampled 4K60p recording. DCI 4K can be shot in 6K, FFcrop 5K, or S35 4K Imager Scan Modes. The following frame rate options have been added for Slow and Quick Motion in FF 2K mode: new 150 fps and 180 fps.
At the launch of the Sony FX9, solid autofocusing was a highlight but is now being improved with added Eye AF support in addition to the face detection that was previously available. The moving Flexible Spot or Zone focus areas now have new touch support. Now assignable as a custom button is the AF transition speed and AF subject shift sensitivity.
