Nine Year after launching the first generation of Mirror-less Professional Cameras, Sony Camera division officially launched in Nigeria.
The event which saw in attendance professionals in the Nigerians in the imaging industry held at the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino, Yesterday the 29th of January.
Speaking at the Event, Murat Gebelli, Head of Digital Imaging, Sony Middle East and Africa said the Sony was happy to be entering the Nigerian and looked to expand and create “trustful relationships” with the imaging Industry.
Nigeria via recent common survey is shown to be a dominantly DSLR market and speaking to BOP on how Sony planned to penetrate the populace with their mirror-less cameras, Sajeer Shamsu, Deputy General Manager Marketing said the company was planning to do various “workshops/seminar across the city board in the country”. Arvin Orsua, Marketing Manager spoke on the same issue saying Sony was going strategically market to professionals who they hope would sway the hobbyist population towards the camera giants aisle.
The event feature Presentations from various teams members about the strengths of the Sony Mirrorless line up and an official Introduction to the Sony A7R IV, the latest full frame in the company’s line up. Also amongst those who spoke were Nigerian Wedding Photographer and Filmmaker ‘Akintayo Timi‘ and ‘Lanre Esho‘ who made presentations on their experiences using Sony cameras.
Sony has been leading the Mirrorless Camera market for awhile now and even amongst the introduction of the Canon EOS R and the Nikon Z6/Z7, the company seems light years ahead of any competition.
