So Apple had the Apple event yesterday and I spent over an hour watching the event on YouTube (which if you know me is a big deal because I am not an apple fanboy) to get you all of the juicy bits on the new iPhones that are hitting the market soon.
Right of the back, the new iPhone 15s are incredible. the camera has in the most subtle way (which is the Apple way might I add) redesigned the phones from the more sharp edges to a more soft round edged design which would be comfortable to hold for long periods of time. There are new sensors on both phone with the base models (the iPhone 15 and 15 plus) carrying over the A16 Bionic chip from last year’s pro models whilst the new pro models have been fitted the newly designed A17 Pro chips which are industry revolutionizing. It features a new 3 nanometer process which is faster than the 4 nanometer processor found on every other smartphone on the planet which makes it faster and more power efficient which should translate to faster processing speed whilst still achieving longer battery life.
Now to the camera of it all, we’ll start off with the Pro models;
- iPhone 15 Pro/Pro-Max;
The iPhone Pro and Pro Max feature the same triple camera design from last year’s models. The primary camera is a 24mm f/1.7 system with built-in optical image stabilization and with the new A17 pro chip, the ability to emulate varying focal lengths. The secondary camera are both 12 megapixels; the 13mm f/2.2 ultra wide angle camera also doubles as a macro camera but the major difference comes with the Pro Max version which feature a new 120mm f/2.8 telephoto camera system unlike the 77mm telephoto camera on the Pro model. The phone is RAW enabled and feature a new depth capture design that allows you turn normally capture images into portraits shots in post production whilst also change area of focus (this feature is available to all iPhone 15s though).
On the video end of things, the new 15 Pro and Pro Max are capable of 10 bit color, 4K Pro Res video at up to 30fps (60fps if you connect the iPhone to an external drive, thanks to he inclusion of USB Type C) so your iPhone can be considered a pocket sized cinema camera.

- iPhone 15/15 Plus;
The newer based model 15’s come with the same design as the year before except the main camera has been upgraded to from 12megapixels to 48megapixels like on the Pro models. The cameras are powered by the A16 Bionic chip from last year’s Pro models so there a significant processing power jump from last year’s. The main camera produces 24 megapixel photos by default, a bump from last year’s 12megapixel images.

The price point remain the same on all phones except the iPhone 15 Pro Max which cost $1,199 ($100 more than the previous version) and phones would be available for pre-order this Friday, September 15th on various retail platforms whilst those who’d like to get them in stores can do that from Friday, September 22nd.
