Colour Theory in the visual arts is a body of practical guidance to colour mixing and the visual effects of a specific colour combination. It uses the colour wheel as a guide to select colours that best compliment or oppose each other to create a look that is most pleasing and doesn’t distract from the image.
According to Idongesit Usanga, Dean of the Images Faculty;
“Among we photographers, there is a tendency to play with colors anyhow. This often leads to an unbalanced photo, which just confuses and overstimulates the viewers negatively. The theory of color is one vital thing to learn and understand as a photographer”
Offering practical examples in images, the Dean shows us how to mixed and match colours so it doesn’t come off as disturbing or distracting.
