Unless you’re starting out and don’t have a lot of clients to attend to, there’s always the need to purchase some gear to better your craft or help you achieve a certain type of image and not everyone has the time to wait a minimum of 5 days (if you’re shopping online locally) or over 4 weeks or more (if you’re shopping internationally). There’s always the option of walking into your favourite physical camera store but if you live in Calabar like I do (or some other town that doesn’t boast of much infrastructure and industries), then you’d know that the camera store can only boast of having so much.

While it’s always super secure to shop with established online shopping platforms, social media has brought the marketplace even closer and there’s no better shopping mall than our very dear INSTAGRAM. The platform is a hub for various retailers and listed below are the top 5 Photography equipment vendors in Nigeria that can get you what you need with very little waiting time and reliability because quite honestly, equipment is expensive and it woul suck to get something that’s fake or bad.

  • Camera Joint;

Physically located in Lagos, the Camera Joint brand is unanimous with perfection. Delivery of confirmed orders takes about 3 days max and products are guaranteed to be in perfect working condition (they have a return policy so should your case be the exception, your money still comes back to you). I’ve shopped with them a couple of times and even did an interview with the brains behind the operation when the Corona Virus pandemic was hitting hard (click here to read that interview). You can hit them up on Instagram here or if you’re in Lagos, do well to walk into their store.

  • Legit Joint;

Another Joint in the building (cue in Opportunity by Jesse Jagz), Legit Joint is relatively new on the gram but that hasn’t stopped them from proving their desire to serve well and deliver on quality gear and stuff. Outside selling brand new and vetted refurbished cameras and camera accessories, they act as a conduit between you and the big market place so if you don’t know how to ship in your gear of choice or like most of us, your address is a series of turns and an akara kiosk that isn’t recognized on Google, they can help you order, ship in and deliver without you stressing much. Click here to connect with them on Instagram.

  • Dreiz Bespoke;

Unlike the other brands on this list, Dreiz is a leather bespoke brand that makes custom single and double camera straps and they are really GOOD! I own one and the investment was well worth the price (and the price is really budget-friendly). Looking good is great business and if you’re majorly an event photographer, Dreiz is your guy. Click here to connect with him.

  • TOD Backdrops;

Based in Lagos, Nigeria, and headed by the amazing Odunola Abayomi, She’s a photographer who understands the urgency of getting accessories to photographers when and where they are needed. Click here to connect with her and get all you need.

  • Ustine7070;

Finally on the list, Ustine 7070 based in Abuja, Nigeria. The Ustine 7070 Brand has become well known in the last couple of years for quality products and amazing prices. The brand is also keen on delivering the latest tech in the camera world so if you’re one who likes to update your gearbox as the companies release new stuff, the Ustine is your best bet. Past reviews say their customer service over the phone does need some fine-tuning but if you work in the store, you’re sure to be treated great (I’ve gotten stuff from them a couple of times and it was amazing). They do delivery nationwide, so slide into their DMs here and thank me later.
