Accessories and Third Party Lens maker Viltrox, yesterday subtly announced its new 85mm f/1.8 STM lens for the mirrorless Nikon Z mount cameras, making it the first third-party lens coming to the Z mount that features autofocus function.
Previous versions of the 85mm f/1.8 already exist for Sony and Fujifilm mirrorless cameras and its right to presume that there’s one coming to the Canon RF mount in the next couple months. The lens features some level of special coating that isn’t clearly stated (We’re presuming coatings to control flaring and ghosting). Also, the lens is constructed of 10 elements in 7 groups and includes one ED element and four short-wavelength and high-transparency lenses, which Viltrox says dramatically reduce chromatic aberration and provide high levels of contrast across an entire image. The company also promises edge-to-edge sharpness.
Currently only available via Amazon for $399, the lens works well with Nikon’s eye and object tracking. It also features a mini USB port for upgrade purposes. You can click here to purchase it on Amazon.
