ZY Optics yesterday released the latest addition to its “Speedmaster” lineup of lenses. Designed specifically for the Micro Four Thirds system, the new Mitakon Speedmaster 17mm f/0.95 III is a fully manual focus lens that provides a 34mm “full frame” field of view, premium fast optics and costs just $400.
Inside the lens are 12 lens elements arranged into 9 groups, including 1 Extra-Low Dispersion element and 4 High Refractive Index elements to control chromatic aberration. According to ZY Optics, the element combination seeks to deliver “compelling sharpness” across the whole frame while still offering a close focus distance of 11.8 inches. The lens features a rounded 8 blade aperture system that promises “buttery smooth” Bokeh.
