Superzoom Lenses cover a very wide focal length range that usually starts at 70mm or 100mm and ends at 300mm to 400mm. Superzoom lenses are also called ultrazoom lenses ranging from wide angles to extremely long focal lengths in one lens. The advantage of superzoom lenses over other lenses is that they save you the trouble of carrying multiple lenses because they allow you to cover a wide focal range without changing lenses, and they are perfect for nature and wildlife photographers.
There are a few advantage superzoom lens would give while in use which includes:
- AVOID CONSTANT LENS CHANGING: Due to their ability to cover long range and wide focal length, superzoom lenses save photographers the trouble of changing lenses at intervals to get the right image and angle.
- IMAGE STABILITY: Most of the superzooms lenses provide a maximum aperture of only f/6.3 at 200mm, which is useful for having several shutter speed compensation on hand when shooting in non-optimal light.
- ULTRA-LOW DISPERSION AND ASPHERICAL LENSES: Superzoom lenses display distortion at wide angles, telephoto extremes, and chromatic aberrations at high-contrast boundaries. While using ultra-low dispersion (ED) and aspherical elements won’t eliminate this problem, they do go a long way toward improving overall image quality.
These are a few advantages and benefits of using the superzoom/ultrazoom lens. It shows that investing in superzoom lenses would help achieve a lot, especially as a landscape, nature or wildlife photographer. View the video below from YouTube by Tony and Chelsea North
