The Fujifilm GFX 100 turned a lot of heads upon its release, offering a modern medium format sensor and features normally reserved for full frame cameras, all in a package that cost less than $10,000. Then came the GFX 100S, which kept almost all the features of the GFX 100 and cut its size and price nearly in half. No doubt, the GFX 100 was a paradigm shift of sorts when it first hit the market, offering an extremely high-resolution sensor with a very advanced (for medium format) autofocus system and quick burst rate, all for under $10,000. As impressive as that was, the GFX 100S is even more impressive, losing the built-in vertical grip, but keeping pretty much all the other features of the GFX 100 and cutting the price almost in half to $5,999, bringing top-shelf medium format image quality into the range of upper-end full frame prices.
