- Kindly Introduce Yourself: My name is Emmanuel Ojo. I am 22 years old and I’m a student at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada.
- What was growing up like for you?: For me growing up was just like any other average family in Nigeria. Mostly attending school every day, playing with friends, and going to church with my family.
- What’s your educational background?: I had the majority of my educational background in Nigeria. From kindergarten to nursery to primary and secondary school where I had a photography class up to A level education.
- What genre of photography are you into? : I mostly do landscape photography although I sometimes take portraits of my friends.
- How did you get into Photography?: I got into photography through taking a class in photography in secondary school and I have been going at it since then.
- How is exploring landscape photography in Canada and what advantage does landscape photography offer to the photography industry?: Landscape photography is very interesting in Canada because it is a beautiful country and there’s always a lot of interesting things and places to photograph around. I think that for the photography industry, it helps to showcase a photographer’s portfolio and showcase the beauty of places around the world.
- Where/Who do you draw your inspiration from?: I draw my inspiration from nature and the environment.
- So far what has been your highest point as a Landscape photographer and how is the Business of Photography like? : I think my highest point as a landscape photographer is yet to come. I’d love my photos to be showcased to a large audience so that would be a high point. I think the business of photography is quite great. Once you take excellent photos and people love them, your business tends to grow because others want to be photographed by you as well. Essentially, your work speaks for you and your business grows.
- What challenges do you face as a landscape photographer and what steps do you take in overcoming these challenges? : Getting to different locations to photograph is probably the biggest challenge but sometimes I walk there or a friend who drives helps or I take the bus so that helps.
- As a landscape photographer, what are your advice to photographers considering a career in landscape photography: My advice to younger landscape photographers is to go out there and shoot and also look at the works of other landscape photographers from the past and present, study the techniques and learn from their work.
- What’s your opinion on the effects of the recent pandemic on the global photo industry?: The pandemic has been difficult for photographers but I do believe it will get better soon and the business will continue as safely as possible at this point in time.
- Any last words?: Finally, I’ll say for anyone interested in photography to keep learning and keep shooting and practicing. Don’t be discouraged if your photos are bad at first because they will get better.
