A Photowalk is a photography movement or session organized by a large number of photographers who explore different parts of the city together to capture incredible stories using their cameras. I always look forward to being part of it because it helps me reconnect with my colleagues who have been in the industry for a long time, plus, I get to meet with new photographers to share knowledge and other exciting moments we create when we walk.
Whether you are a professional or a beginner (amateur) practicing and taking copious pictures is one thing that should not be overlooked as it is necessary. I have listed a few benefits of being part of a Photowalk below. Enjoy!
- IMPROVES YOUR SKILL SET: This will have a great influence on a photographer when he/she sees other photographers’ efforts in creating amazing stories. Going on a photowalk with other established and talented photographers will help you gather experience that will have great impact on your photography.
- IT GIVES YOU MORE EXPOSURE: One thing about going on a photowalk is that, it exposes you to a lot of opportunities, you learn from other photographers and it opens you to new brilliant ideas, thoughts and also broadens your creativity as a photographer. It also helps you explore different genres of photography.
- ALWAYS FUN AND INTERACTIVE: Going out with other photographers is always interesting and photographing people is more interesting. Having to walk with other passionate photographers has a lot of benefits to it such as exchanging ideas, sharing their works, building contacts, and participating in exhibitions through the contacts they made.
- IT BUILDS SELF CHALLENGE AND CONFIDENCE: It is not every time that we feel the urge to go for Photowalk alone but when we see a large number of passionate photographers we are motivated and challenged to create something fresh and new. Challenges help you to improve your work and open you to a wide range of ideas and perspective.
