The beauty of photography is the story you’re able to tell with your photos starting from the composition, framing, angles, etc. Photography and Videography are all about creativity and the creativity applied make you stand out in your career. Here, I will share with you five camera shots that are very important.
CLOSE UP SHOT
This is the most common shot, and it’s more to the face. It shows details on the face of your image; it also helps to create a strong connection with the subject. In Close Up Shot, one can clearly feel and perceive a person’s emotions and can easily connect with their humanity. This captures the image’s forehead down to the chin.
MEDIUM SHOT
This is mostly between the close-up and the long shot. It’s more like a portrait shot where it captures the head down to the waist and shows more body gestures. Mostly, the entire body can not be seen when it comes to Medium Shot. Medium shots, also called the Mid-shot, are the starting-line or baseline of where we will begin. Not always the most interesting, but medium shots are very important and fundamental.
LONG SHOT (LS)
A long shot allows us to see our subject in full and also see the environment. Long shots are mostly used to tell an action story especially when it is important to see the subject’s movement and the environment. Long shots help us to take photographs that establish a person’s position within his space or environment.
POINT OF VIEW SHOT (POV)
This is mostly used in cases when you want the viewer to see what the character is seeing or feel what they’re feeling. It can be a static shot or you can combine it with one of the camera motions. This is an expressive shot for the photographer.
Now is the time for the camera angles the camera angle will help you create some kind of perspective.
HIGH ANGLE
Which is known as the bird-eye view, is basically taken above the subject’s head surface. This is taken to show the intensity of a scene. It lets the viewer have a feel of the action moment in the scene.
LOW ANGLE
As the name implies, this is taken from a low angle view where the camera faces the subject from a low view which makes the image look dominant or powerful.
DUTCH ANGLE
Dutch angle is one of the easiest ways to manipulate or convey disorientation. This kind of angle can be taken by tilting the camera one-sided to the horizon and also to pass a message that something might be wrong with the subject.
