DJI has recently released the winning photos from this year’s SkyPixel Photo Contest. The grand prize winner this year was Florian Ledoux for his image “Above the Polar Bear.” With over $90,000 worth of prizes being handed out, Ledoux was one of over 40,000 people who submitted photos into this year’s competition.
Ledoux’s winning image is a stunning photo of a polar bear in its natural habitat. The photo was taken in Nunavut, a territory in the Canadian Arctic, using a DJI Phantom 4 Pro. Ledoux had this to say about his image:
Dear future generation, I hope we will still be able to see the Arctic wildlife as we do now. It is threatened as the environment is changing. I was able to witness many scenes of wildlife, and I can guarantee you this is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
Ledoux’s grand prize includes over $15,000 worth of gear. The package comprises of a Nikon D850, a DJI Inspire 2, and an iPhone X, as well as several other items. Prize packages were given out to all other first, second, and third place winners as well. Below are some of the other winning photos.

DJI started the SkyPixel community three years ago, and in that short time, its aerial photo competition has become one of the most prominent in the world. The competition has few rules, only that photographers had to take the image in 2017 and that it must be an aerial photo. They could then edit their pictures and submit their entrees into three categories: landscape, portrait, or story.
