Photography over time has come to be a major story telling tool with its ability to preserve moments from the time space continuity or in simpler terms; keep records of daily human successes. Memories, Lifestyle, Incidents and People irrespective of the era are recorded and this helped understand human growth and evolution over time.
Coming into the era of the digital revolution, Photo related equipment has seen its fair share of advancement from film through to the improvement of digital sensors, the technological improvement has helped photographers more easily express their art. The art behind photography is undeniably the memories it helps creates. The ability for a photograph to encapsulate the emotion of the moment, the ability for the same image to pass information that’d be understood irrespective of language and geographic barriers, to help the future better understand the past (Our present) whether good or bad.
This leads me to my point; the digital in photography for me simply means better and faster. Prior to now, SLR film was the main ingredient you needed for photography but now, there’s a variety of options making photography super versatile and creating multiple options for artist to pick from to create art unique to their perspective.
The Technological evolution has made cameras faster and more accurate, making sure you capture those fleeting precious moment. No need for rolls of film and fear of sunlight or radiation destroying your negatives; SD cards and Digital Drives make it that all you create is safe and if your paranoia for security is beyond mine, the extra layer of security would be to try cloud storage. There’s so much that the tech evolution has done for photography and it’s not that ground that this year’s Business of Photography Conference would be exploring the influence of 21st Century technology on Photography and how you can maximize your chances at success over the age old craft
The Conference is slated to hold on the 21st of April, 2020 at the Landmark Event Center, 4&5 Water Corporation Road, Oniru, Victoria Island Lagos from 9am – 9pm.
