In the last days of August, Zhiyun Tech unveiled the successor to their very popular Crane 2 gimbal in form of the all improved Crane 2S and Gene Nagata from the Potato Jet YouTube Channel is doing an extensive break down of the new gimbal to see if it’s any better than the previous one.
The Crane 2S is the baby gimbal of the Crane 3S (which is capable of lifting full cinema rigs). It features new and improved motors and a better algorithm which allows for steadier performance which in turn results in very smooth footage. The handle of the gimbal is now made of carbon fibre (as opposed to the aluminum handle of the Crane 2) which makes for a steadier and more comfortable grip especially when working for longer periods. The focus wheel has also been improved and made smaller while that balance mechanism for the camera has completely changed to allow for faster balancing in both horizontal and vertical shooting modes.
