The need for creatives to understand the legal and intellectual rights guiding their craft is very important. It will help creatives map out a successful business structure and also help give regulation to their craft; this was a major subject of discussion at the just completed Business of Photography Conference. We had amazing panellists such as Toyosi Etim Effiong, Abisoye Fagade, Kelechi Amadi Obi, and Emmanuel Agherario (Legal Associate Olisa Agbakoba Legal) discuss this topic
This session was centred on how creatives can create a global market such that the government can see what the photography industry is about and also the importance of legal backings, understanding of copyright, how to sell images, and a lot more was established in this session. The importance of creatives having a lawyer to help deal with legal issues was also established and the need to properly have an insurance plan for expensive gear and equipment to prevent theft and any other unprecedented occurrences.
This panel session was an eye opener to creative to establish the need of certain major individuals such as the government, lawyers, accountants, etc. to help improve their work process.
