Street photography is a dynamic and tedious genre of photography, and this is because it takes a combination of creative vision, great technical skill, instinct, extraordinary instinct, and creative skill. It takes a great deal of patience to get amazing images, among other qualities you must possess as a photographer and not forget to capture perfect moments. Street photography ultimately begins with a random collection of moments and thoughts captured by chance. The ultimate endpoint is an idea, a story, or a feeling to the work that brings the viewer closer to you and who and what you are photographing.
And so, street photography is not just capturing just anything. There must be an ideology and meaning to whatever you capture and tell a story through it. Street photographers should take time in an area before exploring new places. Street photographers should learn to repeatedly go back to the best spots to show what they are really like, and pay attention to the site, building a story and legacy with such area before capturing moments and happenings. The more time you spend in an area, the better you will understand it and get a better image. Moments that you may have missed entirely on previous trips will pop out at you each time you go to that spot. It’s incredible how this will continue to happen the more time you spend in that place.
Street photography can be tedious and stressful, but you get amazing images with detailed guidelines and attention to the slightest details. The video below from YouTube is Justin Mott’s review on becoming better at street photography.
