Motion photography is mostly about capturing a motion in a still image, it entails showing the movement of your image in its blur form. Adding a little blur of the action to your shot helps tell a story. This storytelling element makes the images look interesting and unexpected.
Showing the movement with blur helps focus attention on the image. Blurring every other part leaving your main subject, and to remove all distractions which really give way to allow the focus of the photograph.
WAYS TO CAPTURE MOTION IN PHOTOS
USE OF LONG EXPOSURE: Long exposure is one commonly used method to capture motion and it is widely used but one very important thing is to shoot at a slower shutter speed to be able to tell the story in your shot. shooting at a speed lesser than 1/20sec will subject your image to be more blurred. Also, it is advisable to use a tripod when capturing movements mostly in a crowded location with a shutter speed of 20sec-30sec.
PANNING METHOD: Panning is flexible to use compared to long exposure. However, as a photographer panning requires using a shutter speed within the range of 15sec to 30sec letting the camera move at the same speed as the subject. What this does is focus more on the image and blur the background.
SYNC OF LONG EXPOSURE AND PANNING: A combination of both long exposure and panning with the addition of flash will creatively give you amazing storytelling images. A lot of photographers use a slow shutter sync to let in more ambient light on their subject.
