The photography and imaging industry is a very competitive one and it takes deliberate effort to stand out as a photographer. Aside from the fact that you need to keep learning, unlearning, and relearning, you also have to get gear and get clients and prove to them that you’re good at what you do.
To stand out and stay long-term in the imaging industry, there are a number of things you need to do to stand out from every other photographer in the industry.
CONSISTENCY: To stand out as a photographer you need to be consistent about your craft, consistently create and produce new work, keep at it, and also be deliberate about being top of your craft.
BE UNIQUE: Photographers should know that they’re unique in their on way and that you don’t need the approval of others to stay in whatever genre of photography to stay relevant. Develop and think of ways you can self-promote your uniqueness and stay true to it.
PATIENCE: Success doesn’t happen overnight. Be consistent and be patient, and things will happen in their own time with deliberate effort. Photography is a very competitive industry. At any given point in time, there are bound to be people who can do something better than you. And that is totally okay. Know where your strengths lie and use those to your advantage.
