The 21st century media is has grown bigger than anyone could have ever anticipated and the introduction of the new media i.e The Internet has grown thing to a much bigger proportion.
In a era where everything informative can be accessed literally at fingertips, it is even harder to maintain the order of information gatekeepers (Information Gatekeepers are Media persons who checkmate information to ensure all that goes out is wholly correct), even worse is the fact that anyone and everyone today is an information distributor hence making it even harder to decipher what is real and what isn’t.
Nigerian Communication Student and Photographer ‘Bern Paul Ushie’ in his new photo serial ‘Mediafluence’ tries to bring to the fore-front this plight of modern society
Sharing this image on his Instagram, he wrote;
“Hi everyone, my name is Bernard Ushie, I’m a final year Student studying Mass Communication at Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH). In one of my classes, we were taught the theories of the Mass Media… I had no idea I was going to be inspired by this lecture until the lecturer asked; “Do you depend on the media?”… How does the media affect you? Are your actions dependent on the media? Do you clothe yourself with its information? Does it affect you at all?”
Coming at a time where we are bombarded with information and infomercials, it sure is good to take a step back and ask yourself; What is my relationship with the media?
